Surrenden, Brighton

The main feature of this garden was a white rendered curved retaining wall halfway down the garden. This provided a mid terrace for a seating area. The curve related back to the art deco style of the 1930s house when viewed from the bottom of the garden.
Essentially, it is a gravelled garden with prairie style planting, with three seating areas to track the sun.

The lower curved path takes you through the naturalistic planting scheme. This includes the use of flowering plants and grasses that have a close relationship in foliage and simplicity and require minimal resources to maintain it well. Raised oak sleepers created planters for a vegetable growing area.
